Why don't you ride a motorized bicycle

We at greenspinner.com are looking for feed back on why more people don't ride motorized bicycles. We would appreciate any comments you may have. The first thing we find is that there are very few complete motorized bikes for sale most come as and engine kit that needs to be assembled on a bike.

Would you buy a complete motorized bicycle?

In almost every city there a motorcycle shops with mechanics, if you could buy from a motorized bicycle shop with support would you?

If the engines were made in the USA would you be more likely to own one?

If you could buy a motorized bicycle with financing would this make them more appealing to you?

Would you like electric start?

Would you like to own a customized motorized bicycle something like OCC?

Since many people don't ride in the winter would and recumbent tricycle with element protection get you to ride year round?

Does the fact that insurance and registration are not required plus the fact you will get over 100MPG make you see the benefits of owning a motorized bicycle?

I began riding a motorized when gas hit $2.50 at what dollar per gallon will you consider riding one?

Any and all comments and suggestions will be used to create a better product.

Please visit http://greenspinner.com our bicycle engine page is still being worked on.

I would buy engines that are better made if they were available. I deeply resent the use of crap chinese bolts and studs in both the HT and the Grubee kits. It is an insult to peoples intelligence to sell these bolts that are not in compliance with relevant international standards.
I would support anyone trying to take all the business from the Chinese and giving it to India instead. That way we would get better quality.
Ripping off the Chinese would be their just desert.

I agree with the quality of the nuts and bolts for this reason I replace most when a bike is put together. I would buy American if there was one. My evential goal is to make the complete setups here in the USA. The 4-stroke engine is of good quality because it is a copy of the Honda engine. Now when we speak of the 2-strokes they are completly Chinese. I am looking for investors to manufacture in the USA.

There are plenty of non-Chinese made engine kits available if you look around. They are a tad more expensive though.

Personally, I ride a motorized bicycle, and I ride one of the funky Chinese made ones that I got for under $200.

Here are some reasons I wouldn't ride it:

    1. Dirty - Oil and gas get everywhere and the thing smells bad.
    2. Noisy - Some engines can be quite annoying.
    3. Scary - Going 30mph in the bike lane is a little nuts.
    4. Limited - You can't go on the freeway. There are also laws against them in some areas.
    5. You have to put it together yourself and it is not always an easy install.
    6. Lack of knowledge - not everyone knows that you can go pick up an engine kit and get nearly 100mpg for less tahn $300.

However, the reasons FOR riding one are overwhelming. Just take a look at the thousands of happy members we have on our Motorized">http://www.motoredbikes.com">Motorized Bicycle Forum.

They don't get too hot on your legs. Grubee kits running lithium grease in the gear box only get warm. Your invited for a ride. Once you ride you'll be back

My son went bonkers when he rode his friends motorized bike and talked his mom into helping him get one. He is 17 and has to buy his own gas for the car. When he heard that you could get up to 150 miles a gallon it was his. He rides it to soccer pratice and to visit friends and to work. I took it for a spin myself and was very surprised at the speed and power with me weighing 280 lbs. I peddaled to get up the hills faster and it did just fine. No reqrets with this purchase.
